Fit Picks: YouTube Fitness Channels

I used to think the only way to get the best workout was to go to the gym and workout. But I realized that I did not like working out with a bunch to strangers at all. And on top of it all going to the gym after 5 o'clock was like walking the hallways in a high school. People everywhere and who wants to wait any longer than they have to get in a workout? Not me so I cancelled my gym membership and started doing research on at home workouts.

And come to find out they can be just as effective as gym workouts and cost a LOT less. Yes you may have to by some equipment but its amazing how many workouts you can do in cardio, strength and toning with just yourself and some dumbbells.

When looking for at home workouts I found a lot online that show you it in the form of pictures but you can never truly know if you are doing something the right way from a photo. I mentioned this to a friend who recommend that I look on YouTube for workouts and boy was she right. There are so many different types of workouts on YouTube that you can do. Now you have to be careful and make sure that you are using someone who is certified to be teaching workouts.

There are three channels I have found on YouTube that I enjoy doing workouts from. They are:

Jessica Smith TV
Fitness Blender
and Blogilates

Jessica Smith TV was the first YouTube workout channel that I was introduced to. She is a certified personal trainer and has many different kinds of videos on YouTube for working out. I like how you can do full 30 minute workouts or do a 6 minute workout if you are short on time.

I found Fitness Blender when I was looking for standing ab workouts and at first I thought their workouts where going to be very intense but to have a wide range of intensity and length of workouts. The only problem I have with their workouts is that when they have you begin a move there is no music playing in the background. They are a husband and wife who make these videos and the
workouts.

The last one is Blogilates, I found this one on a recommendation from a co-worker and at first went back and forth with it for a few reasons, mainly just because I was starting out with working out and wanted a certain workout and could not find them on her channel (but now I have) but I recently came back and am enjoying it. I like how there is a variety as well with this channel on what is offered and that she also does recipes as well as workouts.

I love that with a online workout you can do it in the privacy of your own home and have it be at your speed. The different types that are offered are amazing and you don't have to spend any extra money on a gym membership or a workout program.

What is your favorite online workout?

1,2,3...and relax

Welcome to My New Fitness Diary!

Before I start telling you about this blog I want to just mention that I am by no means a fitness expert or nutritionist, I am starting this blog with the sole purpose of sharing my journey to a healthier lifestyle and to becoming a healthier person.

A little bit about me:

My name is Holly and I started my journey on becoming healthier in October of 2015. I started by just doing things at home with trying to eat better and my doing at home workouts. This did work from October 2015 to January 2015 I lost eight pounds. I had started to make some changes of not drinking soda but instead doing tea and lowering the amount of added sugar I ate not cutting out but just being more aware of the amount.

In January of 2015 I started Weight Watchers with my aunt and from then until about August 2015 I lost 47 pounds. (I will talk about my Weight Watchers journey in another post) Since August of 2015 I have been going at it now on my own without Weight Watchers but with the support of friends and family.

Now in July of 2016 I am down 75 pounds but I still have a few more to go until I am at the weight that I want to be at but I am not pushing it, if it takes until the end of the year then it takes until the end of the year.

So join me on this journey where I will share my experiences with you all and share the things that I have found that work for me and that don't. I will share recipes, workouts, workout clothing (because you have to have cute workout clothes to workout in :))

Be on the lookout for my first real post on my favorite YouTube fitness channels!
